A Testicle Lump or Change? Know When to Get Help
Noticed a change? Get it checked.
A new testicle lump, swelling or change in shape deserves a medical appointment, even if it does not hurt. Many causes are harmless, but you cannot tell the cause yourself.
Changes to get checked
Arrange a clinician's assessment for a lump, a testicle that has become larger, a different feel, or an ache that does not go away. Some changes can be signs of testicular cancer, which is easier to treat when found early.
Pain can be an emergency
Go to an emergency department immediately for sudden severe testicle pain, pain with nausea or vomiting, or pain that lasts more than an hour or continues at rest. Do not wait for a routine appointment.
What an appointment may involve
A clinician may examine the area and arrange an ultrasound. The next step depends on the cause.
