Dandruff That Keeps Coming Back? Start Here
Flakes again? Start with your scalp.
Flakes on your scalp or clothing can be dandruff. It is common, is not contagious and does not mean you have poor hygiene.
Start with the right shampoo
Ask a pharmacist about an anti-dandruff shampoo and follow its instructions. Products contain different active ingredients, such as ketoconazole or salicylic acid. Check how often to use it and when to rinse.
Give the routine time
Try the recommended shampoo for about a month. If one type does not help, a pharmacist can advise whether another is suitable.
When it needs checking
See a clinician if dandruff persists after a month, itching is severe, or your scalp is red or swollen. Flaky patches elsewhere also deserve assessment. Other skin conditions can look similar, so avoid repeatedly guessing at the cause.
