Athlete's Foot: What Helps Itchy Skin Between Your Toes
Itchy between your toes?
Athlete's foot is a fungal infection that can cause itching, flaking or cracked skin. Not every foot rash has the same cause.
Ask about suitable treatment
A pharmacist can help assess symptoms and advise on an antifungal product. Check suitability and follow its instructions for the full course; products and treatment lengths differ.
Keep feet clean and dry
Dry carefully between toes, use clean socks daily and avoid sweaty footwear. Wear shower sandals in shared changing areas. Do not share towels, shoes or socks, and avoid scratching.
When to see a clinician
Get medical advice if treatment fails, the rash spreads, or you have diabetes or a weakened immune system. A hot, painful, red foot or leg may signal a more serious infection and needs prompt assessment.
