Acne Care: Why Clearer Skin Takes Time
Clearer skin takes patience.
An overnight promise is a poor guide to acne care. Treatments often take weeks or months to show their benefit, so consistency matters.
Build a gentle routine
Wash with a gentle cleanser twice daily and remove make-up before bed. Choose products labelled non-comedogenic, meaning they are less likely to block pores. Avoid scrubbing, picking or squeezing spots, which can worsen irritation or scarring.
Ask before adding treatments
A pharmacist can explain suitable options, such as topical benzoyl peroxide, and how to use them. Follow the directions instead of adding several new treatments at once.
Get extra support
See a clinician for deep or painful spots, scarring, signs of skin infection, or acne that is not improving with treatment. Ask for help if acne is affecting your confidence or mental health too. You do not need to wait until it becomes severe.
